    Career Casualties

A BLOG ABOUT THE MODERN CAREER STRUGGLE
    WELCOME,

Have you had a well paid, productive and fulfilling career? Yeah, I haven't either.

I could give you a resume description of myself; I'm a college graduate who's worked in promotions, events and administrative positions, I'm a great multitasker, organized and pro-active in my responsibilities, blah, blah, blah. While all those details are true they tell you nothing about why you should read (or continue reading) this blog or what I hope will come from this blog.

Instead, let me tell you a few more interesting things about myself. I moved across the country at 18 because I had my heart set on living in Boston (if I had know then what I know now). The six months I spent as an intern at a radio station was the best semiprofessional experience of my work life; from my responsibilities in the office to the days of concerts (those concerts are now a snapshot of who was hot on the charts at the time) and I wrote (am rewriting in my head) a book a couple years ago.

I am not writing this blog as a career expert. I am not in HR, I am not a recruiter, I will not give you the one-size-fits-all answers to career questions or problems. I created this blog from enormous frustration with my work history, with interviewing experiences and hiring practices but I also created it because I can't be the only person struggling to create the well paid, productive, fulfilling career I want.

I know I am not alone, I know it because I have I read my alumni Facebook page, because there are LinkedIn posts and TED talks and numerous personal experiences that show me there are millions of others who are dissatisfied with their careers and the way the hiring/interviewing and employment practices work in this country..

Maybe it will create some huge changes in how things are done in employment. (A girl can dream...) It might let other people see there are a lot of us feeling the same about our careers. I hope it will start a conversation.

    Happy Reading...
