A JOB VS A CAREER

Think a job and a career are the same thing? They're not. Not because a state or federal agency says so or because that is being taught in a college class or even because you can find this that idea is written down in a book somewhere. A job and a career are not the same because lmost people of working age experiences it.
Think about it...Somewhere between the age of 25 and 30 you know instinctively if you have a job (or series of jobs) or a career. Somewhere between 25 and 30 you know if your resume shows jobs (or series of jobs) or a career. And you know if the jobs you've held can be built into a career or will remain a series of jobs. (These realizations can come long before the age of 30)
So what's the difference?
A job is often underpaid (and does not always cover the bills), has no benefits, has no flexibility for sickness, emergencies and life changes. A job does not always relate to any degree you earned. A job (or series of jobs) typically is not always one someone sought in terms of experience, skills and interests. And a job typically is uninteresting, unengaging, unchallenging, unmotivating and unfulfilling.
On the other hand a career generally pays a livable sarary over time, comes with benifits, has flexibility for sickness, emergencies and life changes. A career can more often than not relate to a degree someone pursued. A career is generally one someone sought in terms of exoeruebce, skils and interests. And a career is typically more interesting to that person, engaging and challending to that person who choose a certain field, where someone is motivated in their daily functions and accomplishments and where someone often feels fulfilled in their work.
These definations are not absolute of course, but don't they read as realistic to what we know to be true. Many people don't see the difference. But I guarantee you anyone who has struggled to get a certain type of job, to work in a certain industry, has had difficulty getting hired or promoted, has had long term unemployment or has gaps in thier resume, anyone whose career didn't go the way it was aupposed to, knows theirs a difference between a job vs. a career.
